Clothes as Collateral: Beware of How You Pay for Your Bankruptcy

Written by Wesley Scott | October 7, 2021 at 12:00 PM

As incredible as this may sound, there is a bankruptcy law firm that will actually ask you to put up your clothing as collateral for the attorney fees in a bankruptcy case.

LifeBack Law will never ask any of it’s’ clients to put up the clothing on their back as collateral for our fees. At LifeBack Law Firm, we accept payment in one of three ways for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

You Can Pay in Full

First, you always have the choice of paying us in full before you file your chapter 7 or chapter 13 bankruptcy case. Many people find if they are not paying their creditors, they can save the money necessary to pay for and file bankruptcy.

You Can Pay Over Time

Second, we also accept payments over time. Once the fee is paid in full, we can then file your bankruptcy case. This way, you can tell your creditors that you have retained a bankruptcy law firm to file bankruptcy. That typically will keep creditors at bay long enough to file the bankruptcy.

You Can Pay With a 3rd Party Promissory Note in MN

Third, we also accept a third party promissory note. If you go this route, we are able to file your bankruptcy immediately, and then the promissory note signer, or you can make voluntary payments, to the firm after you have been protected from creditors.

What we will not do is demand that you put up your own clothing and furnishings to pay for our fees. We view this as unprofessional and rude. So what, you stop pay the fees and the bankruptcy law firm comes and literally takes all your clothing and furnishings including your bed?
