If English is not your first language or you are worried about translation, that should not prevent you from filing bankruptcy. At LifeBack Law Firm, we often will use translators to best serve our clients.
How does it work? When you call in, chat, or schedule online to make an appointment, just mention that you will need a translator. We, at LifeBack Law, will hire one for the consultation or other appointment needs. When you have your 341 hearing, or other court hearings you may need to attend, the bankruptcy trustee or court clerk will arrange the translation service for you.
It is a fairly slick process and very thorough. If you find yourself needing a bankruptcy consultation, do not let that stop you from reaching out. For a free consultation, the appointment typically takes anywhere between 30 minutes to one hour. It can be in-person, by Zoom, Skype or FaceTime. This is where we will go through assets, income, debts and advice about your financial situation. After the consultation, you will receive documents to sign for representation and moving forward. The next step is a two-hour review and sign process, which can be virtual or in-person, where we go through the entire bankruptcy case. After filing, you will attend a 341 hearing, which takes about 5-15 minutes. This is held by Zoom. In a chapter 7 case, you will then wait for your discharge, which is 90 days after filing. In a chapter 13 case, you will continue making your plan payments until discharge, which is three to five years after filing.
