Let’s face it: being in debt is anxiety-inducing. If you pair financial anxiety with the complicated emotions of considering filing a bankruptcy, the stress can feel insurmountable. At LifeBack Law Firm, we can help you navigate through bankruptcy filing and alleviate financial stress, but self-care is also crucial to navigate through anxiety. It can be hard to know where to start with self-care, but sometimes it’s as easy as sitting down with a cup of tea. I have included my grandmother’s favorite spiced tea recipe below, and I hope it gives you comfort!
Ingredients (makes 4 cups of tea)
1 (1-inch) piece ginger
2 (2-inch) pieces cinnamon stick
5 green cardamom pods
5 whole cloves
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
2 cups cold water
4 black tea bags
3 tablespoons granulated sugar, plus more as needed
2 cups whole milk (or oat milk)
Instructions:
- Crush your ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and peppercorns with mortar and pestle – if you don’t have mortar and pestle, you can also crush these on a countertop or cutting board with the bottom of a pot.
- Place a saucepan on the stove, and set it to medium heat. Add all spices except ginger and stir for 1 minute, or until fragrant.
- Add your ginger, water, tea bags, and sugar, and increase to high heat. Once bubbles start to form on the outer edges of the pot, immediately bring the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Stir in 2 cups of milk, and cook for 1 minute, then turn off the heat.
- Strain and serve!
