st-paul-bankruptcy-lawyer-reviewsEven when you have all your ducks in a row, life tends to throw a goose in the mix. Our instinct is to panic or get angry but if this happens to you after you’ve filed you can be assured that we’ve got your back! Here are some of the most common post-filing obstacles that we can help with!

  • I’m still getting creditor letters/calls/harassment!

This one is an easy fix! If the creditor was listed on your petition, send us the creditor name, address, and phone number. All creditors listed on the petition receive notice the second your case is filed. Many times the continued calls and letters are the result of simple clerical issues or the creditors being lacksidaisical about updating their records. We’ll send them a second notice and this will take care of the problem.

If the creditor wasn’t listed on your petition, we can add them for a small fee and send them a notice to cease collection attempts ASAP!

  • My home/auto lenders aren’t taking my payments!

Most times these lenders will shut down your online accounts when you file. This means any auto payments or online statements you may have set up won’t be happening. You’ll have to call the lender to get those back up and running. They may require written authorization from your attorney to talk to you or re-establish your accounts. Simply let us know and we’ll send that authorization to the lender!

  • I have a judgment against me for debt that was included in my bankruptcy!

The bankruptcy wipes your obligation to pay the judgment debt but, unfortunately, doesn’t remove the judgment from public record. Luckily, we have a specialist for that! For 90 days after your discharge we offer judgment removal with no additional attorney fees. The process can take 6-9 weeks to complete so we recommend giving us a call as soon as you receive your discharge paperwork.

  • I just need some help/answers/references/advice!

We are a resource for you before, during, and after you file for bankruptcy. Questions pop up two or three years post-discharge, people buy homes, move out of state, run into legal trouble –life happens! When you receive a discharge with us, you also receive a “free advice for life” card. 15 minutes a month free to talk to our attorneys for any help you may need.
