LifeBack Law Firm’s salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Can you even begin to imagine the courage Dr. King had? I cannot. I only wish I had a sliver of the courage Dr. King had to stand and speak the truth in the face of pure hate and division. Dr. King said any society that has hate and division is a sick society. How prophetic are Dr. King’s words today in the face of unspeakable hate and division? And yet, in the face of adversity, there are signs of brotherly love. We have witnessed forgiveness for unspeakable acts of hate and racism by the victims of racism and hate.

A Quote To Be Remembered

Here is a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that really spoke to me. He said, “an individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity”. Unfortunately, so many of us are programmed like robots to push for self- preservation and self-gratification. Our society has become a nation of “mini-Gods” all thinking that what they think must be what God thinks. How foolish.

But there are many people and many organizations that do rise above selfishness and deliver for broader humanity. They don’t get press coverage because serving others is a purported “sign of weakness”. While they don’t get press coverage they don’t need it either. The people who put humanity first find that serving humanity is reward enough. They are not looking for publicity or self-aggrandizement. They are seeking to serve humanity with love. You can always tell those people who chose to serve themselves over others. They are the loudest and most obnoxious people in the room. If you follow their lead, you are a fool.

In CONCLUSION

Today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we honor the courage and heroism of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In his day, he was not honored for his promotion of humanity, he was killed for it. Dr. King was right, he did not get to the mountain top with us, and unfortunately, we still have not. To all of you who promote human dignity and humanity either personally or professionally, LifeBack Law salutes you!

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for the first time since 1972, our office is closed.
