life-after-bankruptcy.pngOverwhelming debt causes stress, relationship issues, and sleepless nights. Bankruptcy can help resolve all of this. Let’s face it, nobody wants to file bankruptcy, but instead of focusing on the negative, let’s focus on how we go about solving the problem in front of you. Whether you have been struggling with overwhelming debt for five years or five months, bankruptcy may be a great option to help you get your life back.

In 2016, there were over 500,000 consumer bankruptcy cases filed. That’s almost one case for every resident in the state of Wyoming. This means approximately 500,000 people received the relief they needed from overwhelming debt. Do you know what this means for you? You’re not alone!!! One of the biggest concerns from our clients is that prior to contacting us they had the feeling of seclusion. If you feel like you’re alone in this process, give us a call. We will be by your side every step of the way.

The Free Bankruptcy Consultation

Taking the first leap of faith into an attorney’s office to discuss bankruptcy is not easy. As a matter of fact, it takes a lot of courage to reach out for help. More than that, it takes a lot of courage to reach out for help from a complete stranger. We have a tremendous amount of respect for the clients that walk through our doors. With that said, however, if you take the leap of faith into our office, we promise you will be treated with complete respect and dignity throughout the entire process.

Once you reach out and schedule a time to meet with one of our attorneys, we will spend time visiting with you about your situation. We will, of course, ask you a number of questions about what you’re going through. This will help us gauge what exactly needs to be done to solve the problem you’re faced with. The plan we put together will be designed to help you get your life back!

In the world of consumer bankruptcy you can seek relief from your debts by filing either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Depending on your income and assets, one option may be more beneficial than the other.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Basics

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy is also referred to as the “fresh start” bankruptcy. In a short amount of time (typically 4-6 months), we can have your case filed and discharged. Once your case is filed you are protected from the ever-persistent creditors. This means your creditors must stop contacting you, garnishing, and halt any repossession/foreclosure efforts. Through a Chapter 7 we can eliminate your liability on certain secured and unsecured debts. Even better, most of the time nothing happens to your house, vehicles, or other assets. If after meeting with an attorney it appears you are at risk of losing some assets, we will look at filing a Chapter 13.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Basics

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy can also be described as a government sponsored debt consolidation plan. Through a Chapter 13, clients make monthly payments, interest free, over a three to five year period. The debt consolidation plan takes into account a number of factors. Some of these factors include: monthly income, nonexempt assets, and total debt. Typically, if you own a lot of stuff or make a lot of money, we will look into filing a Chapter 13. Through the Chapter 13 we try to protect everything you own. The most important note regarding Chapter 13 is, your monthly payment will always be something you can afford. If you can’t afford the monthly payment plan, we will not force you into doing a Chapter 13. Often, Chapter 13 is a great option for people in need of relief from overwhelming debt.

Getting The Debt Relief You Need

Whether you decide to file a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, it is not common for people to lose property when filing. It is possible, but we will give you options on different ways to protect your property and let you decide how you wish to move forward. As mentioned previously, it takes tremendous courage to start the discussion about bankruptcy. Part of the reason the conversation is so difficult is because of the stigma society places on bankruptcy. Well, let me be the first to tell you the stigma simply isn’t true.
