Considering Filing Bankruptcy And Embarrassed?

Written by Wesley Scott | June 14, 2020 at 11:19 PM

I totally get this feeling. I have high anxiety myself and the thought of having to file bankruptcy would be a hurdle that would not be easy for me to jump. How many of us wind up on broken roads we did not expect? If you are honest with yourself you would say every single one of us. Your intentions are wonderful but things don’t always work out the way you hoped. Consider the person who opened a business and hoped to be a millionaire. Don’t we all want this?

And yet, the facts are most businesses fail, marriages fail, our physical bodies and mental health fail, and incomes go down when we don’t want them too. I remember having a gentleman one time who told me he had gotten over time for 18 years and all of sudden it was just gone. He obviously had built his expenses around the assurance of 18 years-worth of overtime. And yet, overnight, overtime was gone. He no longer could pay his bills on time because a lot of his income came from overtime.

So many of us have the best of intentions but one little thing gets in our way—the fact that we are human and make mistakes and live in an imperfect word with imperfect bodies. I am very thankful the world is not perfect—how utterly boring would this be!? And yet you have no reason to be embarrassed about being human either. Bad things happen to good people all the time. There is no shame in this. If you are feeling embarrassed about considering filing a bankruptcy, I challenge you to please stop beating up on yourself!
