(Video) 3 MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN FILING BANKRUPTCY IN ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA

There are 3 mistakes you should avoid when filing bankruptcy in St Paul, Minnesota. These mistakes have to do with representation in a bankruptcy or a lack thereof. At Kain & Scott, we are Minnesota’s oldest bankruptcy law firm. We have seen a thing or two and we would recommend you avoid the mistakes we have seen others make. For example-

  • DON’T REPRESENT YOURSELF IN BANKRUPTCY. We have seen people try to represent themselves in bankruptcy. It’s not a pretty sight. Bankruptcy is a highly legalistic and technical area of the law. It is easy to make mistakes that can cost you thousands of dollars. How do we know? Because we have seen the aftermath of clients representing themselves, we warn other people not to make the same mistake. Investing in a professional will result in you relaxing more and letting professionals handle the tough stuff.
  • DON’T HIRE PARALEGAL SERVICES! One of our bankruptcy judges said that the only thing a non-lawyer can do is sell you forms- they cannot give you legal advice. If they can’t give you legal advice, you are representing yourself. If you are representing yourself, see number #1 above. Plus, our experience has been that paralegal services sell you forms that are expensive and often give inaccurate legal advice. You say, well how can they practice law without a law license? We wonder the same thing!
  • DON’T HIRE OUT OF STATE LAW FIRMS! Be very choosy of the law firm you hire. To me, it makes zero sense to hire some law firm out of state only to be referred back to a Minnesota bankruptcy lawyer who has less experience than if you would have googled a local bankruptcy lawyer in the first place. If the law firm is calling you or you are calling them and they are out of state, hang up and call someone local.

CONCLUSION

When the time is right, or when you are ready, reach out to Minnesota’s highest google reviewed bankruptcy law firm at www.kainscott.com. You will be glad you did.
